Europe has so many diverse and interesting cultures. Each country is different and has its quirks and unique things to see and do. Sometimes it can be a tough decision knowing where to start and which country to choose from. Here is a rundown of some of the best things to do. This list is not exhaustive; it was hard to know what to choose. I hope there is something new in there for you that inspires your next adventure.
Amsterdam
I think this city often gets a bit of a bad rap because there is a lot more to it than just red light districts and specialty coffee shops. Amsterdam has an awesome art and music scene, and I have always found the locals to be helpful and friendly. Be sure to take a trip out on the canals or cycle around the city. Though a little pricey, the Anne Frank museum is a must for those interested in the city’s history.
London
There isn’t much more of a diverse culture than in England, particularly London. As well as great shopping and great restaurants, London has some of the world’s best museums. A lot of them are free too! Staying there can be a little expensive but travel is cheap, and there is a lot to do. Want green spaces? Check. Want history and monuments? Check. There are a lot of fun things to do in London too, like watching a west end show or riding the London Eye.
The Swiss Alps
The Alps are simply gorgeous. There are a must see at some point on your life. Whether you are feeling a little bit like Maria in the sound of music and want to go hiking there in the summer. Or you could enjoy skiing there in the winter. You will enjoy breathtaking views and scenery. There are plenty of luxury hotels to stay in too, like The Chedi Andermatt.
Rome
Well, any city in Italy is beautiful. There is such beautiful food and beautiful people too. Rome has a lot to offer in terms of museums and monuments. It is hard to imagine just how old a lot of the sights in Rome are. The Colosseum is a must see as well as the pantheon. Stopping by the Vatican and visiting St. Peter’s Basilica is stunning too. You probably only need four or five days to explore everything in Rome. The shopping is to die for as well. Designer stores on every corner; it is amazing!
Berlin
Berlin is quite a hip and trendy destination. It is cheap to travel too and stay in as well. There is a lot to do there including a vibrant music and art scene and lots of great food. The history museum is brilliant and comes highly recommended. The American Quarter is fun to visit too. You don’t need to spend ages to see everything and could get it all done in a long weekend.
Have you been to any of these places? I’d love to hear about them!
